For the ninth consecutive year, Cintron Pink Polo presented by Vodacom, lived up to its reputation as a world-class event with great purpose. Nature was in on the game, and at a spectacular day out in the Winelands in perfect weather conditions, the highly commended Polo with a Purpose pursuit took place on South Africa’s top residential estate – Val de Vie Estate.

In a riveting 14-goal polo match, team Cintron were victorious under the leadership of Leroux Hendriks against team Vodacom who presented their best effort; the end result was a close score of 4 – 3. Neku Atawodi-Edun, the first black female professional player in the world, were on par with her seven male counterparts. Judged on agility and speed, the best playing pony of the day was Romania, played by team Vodacom captain Tom de Bruin.

The beautiful Rolene Strauss, former Miss World, dressed in a perfectly matched ‘polo chic’ outfit by Elrico Zarr, together with the delightful Katlego Maboe from the Expresso Morning Show on SABC 3 TV, dashingly dressed by La Martina, entertained and informed the 2000 distinguished guests. The Best Dressed lady at the event was Donnalee Roberts and the Best Dressed gentleman Sudepe Ramokgopa, both dressed to the nines in effortless and understated elegance – perfect for a day at the polo.

Some of the well-known South African personalities who stepped out in style at the event were Maps Maponyane, Minki van der Westhuizen, Africa Melane, Nico Panagio, Elana Afrika, Liezel van der Westhuizen and Siv Ngesi.

Furniture and décor accents in soft pink and rich emerald hues with touches of gold, were incorporated as the theme for the 2018 event. Authentic polo inspired wall art, custom designed scatter cushions and trojan animated wooden horses were ideal photo opportunities.

GoodLuck provided the soundtrack for the sunset surprise session under a sky painted an array of pink and serving as a great reminder of the purpose behind this highly acclaimed polo event.

Cintron Pink Polo pays tribute to survivors of breast cancer and serves as a platform to raise awareness for a disease that is most prevalent in women, but also affects a high number of men. For the first time in the history of this event, the Children Cancer Foundation South Africa (CHOC) will benefit from the Pink Food Truck Fair area where R100 per ticket sold will be donated to CHOC.
